St. Mark’s events and opportunities
June already, WOW eh! and only three more weeks to summer.
This Sunday is a Celebration of Sunday school. Emma and the Sunday school are leading worship and there will be a barbecue following worship. All are welcome.
We will also have an opportunity to wish Emma well in her studies toward being an Ordained minister. This is her last Sunday with us as our Children and Youth worker.
She starts studies on June 13 at AST (Atlantic School of Theology) and I personally wish her all the best. I will be able to track her progress and report back on her successes. Blessing to you Emma.
Also blessings and happiness to Emma and Jason on their upcoming wedding.
Children and Youth Ministry
On behalf of the Board and Congregation, I want to express our sincere thanks to Emma who has been our Youth Worker since September 2013. We also want to wish Emma every success as she takes the next step in her pursuit of a ministry calling within the United Church.
I am also pleased to announce that Erica Lane has agreed to be our Leader – Children and Youth Ministry for the upcoming year with overall responsibility for planning and delivery of Sunday School and Youth programs building on the base we have under Emma’s leadership. Erica comes to us with a wealth of church youth and worship leadership and has invaluable relationships with the school leadership in this area. There are two Vacation Bible Camps and oneyouth leadership camp planned for this summer and the Board at its meeting on May 23 approved the Sunday School and Youth Ministry Plan for the period September 2016 to June 2017. Look for details in the coming weeks and months.

Youth Leadership Camp and Vacation Bible Camp
These events are planned and waiting for you. Registrations will be available on Sunday, at the office and soon in a printable version on our new website. Register early and bring friends, as always, all are welcome.
Maritime Conference is complete for another year. There was not a lot of business this year so that left time for learning and discerning our way forward. There was plenty of lively discussion on a wide range of topics from Greta Vosper to mining and the pension plan to part time ministries to what do we do with all the buildings. The Ordination service was simply awesome. The participation of Intermediates and Youth added wisdom and energy.
